Hardy Perennial grows in USDA zones 3-9. Likes full sun-part shade, any soil, drought tolerant but likes moisture for full blooming. Sword-like foliage 2-3 feet long, Flowers stand another foot above leaves. Produces Large attractive seeds pods after bloom period in mid-late spring.

Which picture shows the iris we will get seed for? there are two different kinds pictured, it seems.

I didn't notice that before you said that. I'll have to delete the photo of the flag iris and look for better photo of the Japanese one. Sorry about that.

That is because you are only familiar with bearded irises which do grow mainly by rhizomes. I just posted a close up of the seed pods, but I couldn't find the photo I know I have of the row of them all gone to seed. It's really rather nice. I'll look some more for that one.
