I'm really not to sure what this does. I believe it's used for cheats on games you have for ds. I've never used it but it works fine to my knowledge!!

Does it come with the update cord and the disk? If not its useless. It has to be updated with June 2013 new requirements and this can only be done with the cord

It can still be used without that. My step brother is the one who owned this and it was bought used without a cord and he says it worked just fine. Ill put it in my ds and check

ok but without the cord you wont be able to install the drivers needed for certain games. he may only have the drivers for the games he owns.

The Action Replay is not useless. If one's intent is for cheating in "Pokemon GAMes over the 4th-5th generation series, THan it will not work unless te Software for the AR itself is updated. This is perfectly fine if you are using it for other games. It would work on Pokemon Diamond + Pearl, New Super Mario Bros., etc..

All you need is the cord to update this AR on a PC. Find the software online, with no disc needed. So it works on ONLY the Nintendo DS, & DS. Lite no matter what software version it has.
