when you checked for movement, did you touch anything inside? you may have simply just got spindle or something underneath loose or out of whack. This happens sometimes when cover is removed without knowing. You should check the website or see if you have right drivers installed also.Allot of times a driver insnt installed properly or something gets corrupted during process and windows wont recognize the device. Lastly check the connectors to it are in tact, i know i have repaired a few that someone thought was bad and all it was was a bad connector.

oops sorry replied to wrong comment lol. n yea i cant get it to recognize? i had bought it used it might have music movies on it if u get it running i have no idea what is on hard drive lol. sux cause i really needed it for storage for my kids movies but i couldnt figure the damn thing out. ) ;

yes i took cover off to see if needle was moving it was put it back on didnt touch or do anything just wanted to check for movement. i was trying to hook it up by usb i might be having issues with my usb ports??not sure but cant get it to recognize makes me want to cry lol i have a few 160g but well they suck n r full ) ;

no both connectors arent broken on the power it got small knick on l shape part but all pins get contact

ya i know what ya mean i hate stupied people and ya i repair computers ,and a bunch of different electronics and also sometimes u just cant but sounds like if it is not being regonized then the MBR might be bad if it is a software issues then there are programs that can fix it

if u take off the cover ..it needs to be tourqed correctly with a torex wench or it will not read
