There are no stamps or marks. I don't have a clue if it is sterling silver or not. I would at least say it is silver tone. I used to buy a lot of sterling silver hand made items many years ago. This was bought during that period. Sorry I can't tell you more.

Is the ring broken in the back or is that just a piece of carpeting covering a little area on the back? Do you know if the earrings are hypoallergenic by chance? Thanks.

No, the ring isn't broken. It is just a piece of fuzz. I honestly don't know if the earrings are hypoallergenic. Sorry!
