The listing, Heirloom ✽ YODERS GERMAN ✽ Beefsteak Tomato ✽ 15 Seeds ✽ Organic has ended.

Introduced by Mrs. Yoder and grown in her Amish family for more than 50 years, this orange beauty will be a family favorite for generations to come. Almost flawless and crack-free fruits have a bit more acid, perfect for canning. They are wonderful in the broiler atop garlic toast with just a drizzle of olive oil. They hold up extremely well on a shelf if picked early and left to ripen.

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my garden. They will be sent First Class mail for FREE in the United States. I only take Paypal for International bidders. I will also combine any additional auction seeds (within 5 days) for no additional shipping charge. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 65°F in the spring. Excellent for beginners!

Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 2-3 seeds per pot and thin to one plant per container. After four weeks, transplant seedlings to larger pots, and about 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny, highly composted location when soil temperatures are at least 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Stake or cage the plants for support and to prevent sprawling on the ground.

In good soil, most indeterminate tomato plants need good staking. I recommend staking ALL tomato plants, as well as some pepper plants. You can see the size of the tomatoes that they produced. The 1st picture shows one on a dessert plate. The 3rd picture shows 2 smaller tomatoes on a plate that is slightly larger than a dinner plate. Typically beefsteaks are larger tomatoes.

LOL. Well, I do talk to all my plants, but I think they like the compost tea best.
