This is a vintage walking stick / smoking pipe. You are able to take apart into 5 parts for easy transport! Unique!! Also has a neat wood burned design! About 3 1/2 Feet long! It is air tight when all put together and has never been smoked out of!

Well I am only 5'3" tall so the height would work. I would put a rubber tip on it for sure. I honestly do not think it would work for a man in the woods tho. It is not that tall if you actually think of it. The man would have to be short like me. To test it put it together put in your right hand and as you go to walk with it, it is to aid the left leg when you have it on the ground without the right leg. Do you get what I mean? My left leg is in bad shape so I have to have it to support my weight when the leg is on the ground alone...not all my weight just the weight of the leg being supported by the cane. I know this will go high and I won't be able to get it but if someone has the credits and want it to aid in walking, that is how to test it for them. Again a man I feel would be too tall for it. You want to be able to stand straight with it no leaning or you will fall over unless it is for looks and not a real aid.

Lol, I thought it was bamboo too, but after you hold it and see how the joints and everything are carved. You can tell its a hardwood it is solid and has some weight too it.

It's made out of Bamboo and its for smoking not walking .. lol.. although you might need it for walking after using it for smoking .. I live in Seattle and smoke'in is legal here .. F&W please fan back .. thanks

I would like to know what the connectors are made of ? If real old it should be wood but on pictures it looks white like plastic.
If plastic that will tell me it is for display more than using.

Looking at it can you guess as to how old it is. Any markings that would suggest wear? Are the joints also carved wood?

I am guessing 70's, and yes the joints are all wood also and no sadly there are no markings, I don't know really much about this. I buy and sell unique and antique items and this is just another item I stumbled across.

Thanks. I think it is more for display as well! I don't want you to test it for I would just die if something happened to it and oh what would I do to make it up to you. So just keep it as a display piece for I feel it may not hold up and that would be my fault. Happy Day :)

I would say yes, but to a certain extent. I would say for everyday use no, but definitely could be used to aid somebody on a night on the town, or a day in the woods! If you have a idea of how I can test it for you, please let me know.:)
