The listing, An Original Advertising Trade Card for Niagara Gloss Starch, Circa 1885 - Free Shipping has ended.
This delightful item is an Advertising Trade Card for Niagara Gloss Starch. It is an original chromolithograph printed by Major, Knapp & Company in New York, circa 1885. It features a lovely young girl with bare feet, holding a basket of apples, and the advertisement reads, “Use Niagara Gloss Starch, it is the best.” The back of the card has another advertisement for R. Hughey, a merchant from Ashford, Cattaraugus, NY, during the late 1800s. It reads, “R. Hughey, dealer in dry goods, groceries, boots and shoes, hardware, crockery, &c. Ashford, Catt. Co., N.Y. We sell Niagara Starch, Superior to all.” This piece holds a lot of nostalgia and charm.
This trade card does have some damage. As seen in the first picture, pieces of the print have chipped away. It also seems that this may have been kept in an envelope for quite some time, because there are small bits of paper stuck to the front of this card. The back of the card also shows some type of damage. Please, be sure to review both pictures before bidding to ensure that you are satisfied with the condition of this card. Shipping and tracking are free and thanks for looking.
This card is approximately 4 ¼ by 3”
