AA Battery and I'll have to ask my son to see if the hands glow when he gets here. (i'm disabled and he helps me) I will get back to you on the glowing hands though.

Alright, thanks! I figure the "greenish" part of them might, honestly doesn't matter one way or the other to me!! :-) Been looking for a "backup" for when the power goes out, that isn't electric.

He just checked it and it doesn't glow but when you hit the top button, the whole face light up :)
