Description

The listing, 1881 Three Cent Piece, Nickel / Penny, Dime, no Silver Content has ended.

This is a cooper/nickel (no silver content) 1881 3 cent piece. It is about the size of a dime. Not something you see on here very often. It has a good dollar value to it listed in a coin book. Check the pictures for condition and ask if you have any questions.
Good Luck, it's a good one, Jeff

Have you considered a GIN amt?

Haven't a clue as to how much to make a GIN. The book value of this coin is greater than a 1881 silver dollar and they go between 40,000 & 60,000 sometimes more.

Nice. BTW, I like your profile photo. Can't wait for some warmer weather so I can get back out there.

Thank you, I'm waiting to get back to Wisconsin for the Small Mouth Bass run and others, but for now I'll fish here, it's still hitting the 80's.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what am I missing about the coin? 1881 was one of the highest mint years and shows it below silver.

HI, it is a higher mintage year and 1865 - 1889 were all cooper/nickel. My Black Book has a G-4 = $20.00 and a F-12 = $35.00 but I'm not giving it a grade, I'm not a grader, decide condition for yourself. Hope this helps.

That's why I don't like GIN's. It's too hard to make one everyone likes without giving it away/ This GIN is for someone that really wants it and doesn''t want to lose it.

I suppose it depends on which guide book your using, my Black Book 2013 has it the other way, anyway it is a nice coin.
Have a good day, Jeff
