A brand new never used straight razor , it's made of 440 stainless steel and it has very nice wood scales . I wouldn't say this is shave ready , I would hone it before you used it

I've used foam in the past as well as gels and I prefer soaps these days . But your right , I have no idea why they would ever change , more money I suppose .. I haven't bought a disposable razor in years and even then it was expensive and they never lasted

This really is a great razor , nice and heavy with a big blade , it's a little lose in the scales but that isn't a big deal. It would take a little honing to get it shave ready but other than that it's perfect . I like the look of stainless steel
