Description

The listing, Organic Loofa Seeds - 12 (also spelled Luffa; Loofah or Loufa) has ended.

Organic Loofa (also spelled Luffa; Loofah or Loufa) - 12 Seeds

These seeds are very easy to grow and will produce lots of usefull Loofa Gourds, mine average 12 inches long or better when fully grown!

THESE MAKE GREAT BATHROOM LUFFAS!!!!!

Plant them outside in the ground (with a trellis for them to climb) after the last chance of frost has past. They will thrive in a sunny location with well-drained soil. These make a super window covering to keep out the summer heat and help to lower cooling costs!!

**********You can eat the young loofa too!!!********

When I say loofa is eatable, I don’t mean the dry, hay colored, scratchy, back and callous scrubber… like the one you have next to your bathtub, I don’t think any amount of steaming, boiling, frying, or beating could make those loofas tender. They come from the old, crusty loofa plant, the one that’s toughened up with age.

What is actually eaten is the tender, young loofa. When picked fresh, the green loofa plant is slightly softer than a cucumber and slightly crispier than a zucchini. When cooked, the flavor is mild and slightly sweet.
This edible loofah is often called “angled luffa” or “ridged gourd” or “Chinese okra” or “tori” or “patola” (the names go on and on, depending on the country).
They grow tall in height, love to grow on a fence or trellis and are absolutely beautiful as well as bountiful!

Seeds will ship via USPS usually within 24 hours of the end of the auction and my receipt of your Listia approved address.

Yeah, I really love this! Tons of production from just a few seeds is always awesome! Plus plenty of loofa to use all year long with some left over to give to friends and neighbors!

I let they dry on the vine but I know that many people pick and peal them green and then allow the Loofa to dry after pealing. Fanned you back.
