The listing, 2004 Canadian Colored Poppy Coin - Remembrance Day Flower Coin has ended.
In honour of all those who have served our country, the Royal Canadian Mint has been proudly issuing commemorative coins and keepsakes to mark Remembrance Day.
In 2004, the Royal Canadian Mint issued the 25-cent Poppy coin, the worlds first coloured circulation coin. The red poppy stamped on the reverse with pressurized ink had an innovative fluorescent security coating and quickly became a collector's item. Thirty million coins went into circulation in October, 2004. At the Mint Directors' Conference (MDC) in Paris, France, the 2004 coloured poppy coin was named the Most Innovative Circulation Coin.
In 2008, on the eve of Remembrance Day commemorations and the 90th anniversary of the Armistice, the Royal Canadian Mint, in association with the Royal Canadian Legion, was proud to issue another coloured poppy quarter which featured the iconic red poppy, Canada's flower of remembrance. Eleven million 25-cent coloured poppy coins entered circulation on October 27, 2008.
