This is a Gorgeous HERMOSA 46.40ct oval cushion cut Mystic Topaz Sterling Silver Pendant on a 22" 1.4mm 925 stamped Snake Chain.This will look good no matter what you are wearing.

Please take note of the back side of the Topaz, it is NOT coated. My pictures in no way reflect how beautiful this is.

Bunny you aren't giving the wrong info. Most of the time when you see a gemstone that has a coated back it isn't real. A genuine gemstone like this looks the same on the front as it does on the back. When the stone is in the rough the gemologist cuts away the rock to get out the stone that is gem quality. Than they cut and polish the stone. If there is a coating on the back it is added to either give color or enhance a synthetic stone. From what I know of Hermosa he doesn't use fake gemstones. Is this stamped Hermosa?

I googled this and found about the backing
A real gemstone can be mounted in a solid-back setting, with foil placed underneath the gem to make it look more brilliant or change its color. Keep in mind that backings are often used when mounting fake gems. Mystic topaz doesn't have backing though if it's real.

As a buyer from Hermosa for six years, they have the highest quality stones availiable in the "exhuberant jeweled" sparkley market...lol...I am a parklie addict..the gems they use are far superior to two thirds what you find on ebay, plus the workmanship is top knotch (settings, bails, etc...) this is one of the best I've seen and knowing it is theirs, I might bid nearer the end date...adore this, Mystic Topaz is best as a large pendant as it's extreme brilliance is lost on a ring typically...I'd consider this heirloom quality...

oh yea to answe one of the ladys questions about the stone looking differnt. well you have the stone turned slightly in the 3rd picture changing the color of the stone due to lighting and it shows slightly what the side looks like. sometimes a black background will bring out amazing colors in mystic topaz. but to keep people from questioning the stone just take more pictures of differnt angles.all angles. thanks april

do you know for sure that the chain is sterling because people on listia were selling the snake chains stamped .925 and they weren't sterling silver. if someone finds out it isn't sterling they have a right to dispute this auction and get credits back because you are insinuating it is in fact sterling silver. just a heads up because I did have someone dispute an auction of mine that was a 925 snake chain and they tested it and it wasnt sterling (unbeknownst to me) and they won their credits back. you must state that you don't know if it is in fact sterling silver because almost all snake chains are not. just a heads up because people will change their minds no matter how beautiful the stone is.

Well, some coatings are added to intensify the effect. It acts like a prism, I believe. Natural ones are the colors they came out of the ground with. Once the cutter coaxes the stone out, you get the awesome result. Hope that helps! If I am giving this nice lady the wrong info, feel free to correct me :)
