The background doesn't matter becuase I can always just not stitch it.
Does your software do color matching?

color matching to how you want it ? or match the picture. It match the picture that it show up. Like in the Hello Kitty, the picture has pink. It give me pink as one of dmc floss. It will tell you what color you need. The symbol for each color. Does that answer your queistion?
