I know my daughter is home schooled and has only used crayons till this year and with her supplies she got a pack and now likes them more and colors neater with them I never would of thought to get them for her but she really likes them ...I guess because its a smoother feel lol

I can look in to gin, but I hope you realize this is a semi-professional set of oil pastels, I peeled off the original price tag, that was $29.99 on sale and I bought them a few years back-- I am a artist as profession, however oil-pastal is not my medium, wonderful start for a 5 year old! But remember they may not be as removable from surfaces as easy as crayons, and I can almost bet they are not nearly as "safely eaten" as crayons!!!!!!

bid is still low, they are a really nice set, but they are not paints, however they flow great with mixed-media,,
