I grow it here in NJ as a perennial. It emerges in the spring and will reach a mature size of 3-4 feet tall and wide (this is after a few growing seasons). Early in the summer it has spires of blue flowers that will eventually give way to awesome black seed pods. It will need full sun for the best flower display. It's not demanding with water, it doesn't have diseases or pests to worry about. It will look great well into the fall then die back completely and come back bigger and better each year.
