Persimmons are slow-growing trees in the ebony family. These perennials produce yellow to reddish-orange fruit and are native to North America and Asia. Persimmons are usually warm-climate plants, but can be grown as far North as MN.

They grow in oregon fine - our neighbor has one :)

I dont know how it would work in ND though with the crappy winters.
