Questions & Comments
people, she is not selling the ivory, she is giving it away for free. It is not illegal to own ivory in the US, nor is it illegal to give it away. It may be illegal to sell it and transport across state lines in certain states. And different rules apply to African and Asian Ivory. You need to check your state laws before bidding and get off this Listian. She is not breaking any Listian rule. And elephant girl, I'm sure you enjoy a nice chicken dinner that was slaughtered for you to eat, or maybe your shoes are leather, a slaughtered cow. Threatening another Listian, wishing death upon them is sick and mean!
I'd like to comment on this item. Folks, I got a nasty email from a Listian asking me how I could sell ivory knowing that elephants are being slaughtered, and telling me that she hopes I suffer the same fate. Please note that I would NEVER sell new ivory. This piece is about 100 years old and it is acceptable, legal and ethical to sell old items. My great aunt owned this and she was one of the biggest animal advocates I know!
I hate the way some treat the new members...Ignore all of them they are all FOOLS I have BLOCKED many who use vile nasty language and they stay blocked forever Learn to use your block you'll love it
Right....sorry dear ...alot of ignorant people in this world ,,,there hands (mouth) kick in before there brains do .lol...i love your auction ...thank u
Truth is.........even new ivory, gained by poachers with no moral values, paid be $$$ mongering lower life's......is sadly very detaingly carved by very poor master carvers, who get paid a pittance for their work. To purchase and own such an item is an everlasting tribute to the animal that suffered and the innocent artisan that carved it into a remembrance piece of beauty, The Doctor has spoken his mind!
OMG I ,,well yes I can believe what people are saying ,,its a wonder they are not bad mothing smokers here ,,lol,, its sad though ,,,by the way ,,,this is soooooo,,,mine thnx for listing it
is hard to bid on such high end items when no verified account or even phone, but I must, have dreamt of this (similar) white smoking stick since age 16 and am 44...never thought I would SEE one, so am giving it a try...bless all who bid and the seller for being in good faith...
Good Luck to all To the seller Im sorry you had some bad remarks about it being Ivory I hope you paid them no mind For your item is old its not new It is a great Item Im watching hoping to bid
Ok, Folks! I DID two tests to this. First, I got the opinion of a jeweler who deals in antiques. She said it is ivory. Next I did the test that Dmy50 above suggested. I heated it up and there was absolutely NO smell. This is DEFINATELY ivory and not bakelite. I hope this helps everyone!!! Thanks and THANK YOU for your support!
me again ,,looked online a few simple tests to see if its bakelite ,,rub it til it feels hot ,,if you smell a nasty smell ,,its bakelite ,,plz try this and let us know ,,,thnx
I cant believe u got nasty email about this--wish it was posted so I could block that member--I love all animals but I still own leather purses and shoes..as I am sure that person does also--its not like u went out and got the ivory yourself---some people?????
I didn't take it personally. Some people just have issues. When she said that she hoped I suffer the same fate I knew she has problems. I'll pray for her.
