Are these good for playing in the snow or just to keep warm?

those mittens are very thick, the thickest fleece I ever used. Fleece has some of the same properties as wool, which wicks away the wetness. They will get wet, but getting their hands wet, I don't think so. I would like feedback from people. I only have a few fleece that are as thick as the ones you talking about. I think I have grey,red and black also. I have so much fleece and other fabric for quilts to last a lifetime! The fleece on these mittens are left overs from a friend who made a coat out of it. If you do win, please keep in touch with me. My comments are from my personal feedback for the last 30 years making mittens and quilts. Taggies I've mad for the last 4-5 years. I have grandtwins boy and girl, I watch them using my items and their again I speak from hands on experience with them. They are 2 :) Hope this helps.

2 is such a wonderful age, I have many memories of my kids at that age. I miss all the years actually, once they move on its hard. But....Grandkids rock!! and I waited a long time, and I was ready to spoil them rotten, thanks to Listia :)
