Description

The listing, Antique Brass Box Unique *Must See* has ended.

This is a very ornate looking antique brass box. I am not quite sure where its from but has a hammered in number, on the picture. Also has two or three words on the bottom. Both look like they are hammered in. Very tight Fitting Lid, Opens great! Happy bidding!

Looks like the idea was for the air to freely circulate, so...Potpourri? or, perhaps something HOT went inside, and then radiated HEAT? Any clues? F&W!

I believe it's a smudge pot use in farming to help keep frost off fruit trees in orchards. Fireplace starters are similar but usually have a pumice on a long stick but I don't believe those have holes.
