Description

The listing, **Last Chance** "True" Giganteum Poppy Papaver Somniferum Seeds has ended.

***This Will Be the Last Time I Can Offer These***
These are the true Giganteum Poppies that get huge seed heads. Beautiful large blooms on tall straight stems. The smaller seed heads look great in dried flower arrangements and the large to giant sized pods are packed full of wonderful little black seeds, great for baking and making pastries. Warning: Eating too many of these poppy seeds could cause you to fail a drug screening.
These seeds are Non-GMO and were Organically Grown in my back yard during the 2013 season.
This listing is for 20 "True" Giganteum Poppy Papaver Somniferum Seeds and as with all of my seed listings, complete seed starting instructions will be included.
Disclaimer: These Opium Poppies are legal to grow in the United States for their beautiful flowers, decorative seed pods, and to harvest the seeds for culinary use, however it is illegal to slice the ripe pods to harvest opium. I offer these seeds for legal use only and take no responsibility if used or any illegal purpose.
I will only ship to a verified address. Address must be supplied within 7 days per Listia Rules.
I will ship the seeds out USPS within 24 hours of receiving the winners address.
If you don’t give an address within 7 days I will keep your points.
No refunds.

Wish it was for 20 seed pods! Absolutely love these things. Would you consider a listing for some giant seed pods? Thanks, lovely auction.

Unfortunately I don't have any pods left. Last year was a bad growing year here and I really got into cooking with the seeds, even made a pretty decent pie filling. I had no clue that I would be auctioning any off so I really only kept seeds for this years crop and just happened to have a few extras. My extra seeds from all of my plants have been doing so well on Listia that I will definitely keeping more this next harvest season, so maybe in the fall if I have a good crop I could offer some pods, but not now, Sorry

okay before I get myself in trouble, I love edible things for my beds, so what would make this illegal. I am dumb to all these things sorry.

They are only illegal if used to produce opium or heroin, for all other uses they are perfectly legal

How easy are they to grow, and are they suitable for coastal communities, and sandy soil?

Here in the midwest they are very easy to grow. However, they do not like to be transplanted, so you want to direct seed them where you want them to grow. They like a well drained soil so sand would not be an issue there, but they will need to feed and be evenly watered to grow large, so if the ground is low in nutrients or dries out too quickly, you may want to mix in a little organic matter like compost or some organic fertilizer.

Once you win an auction, at the top of the auction page there is a button to click to verify your address with Listia, it registers your address and Listia checks to make sure it is real.
