The listing, VINTAGE COIN HOLDERS?????? has ended.
Okay so here is the story. Found them in a box I had put away. A dime doesn't fit too big. The holes are spring loaded. Anyone got ideas please help. Listia rules apply. 3/4" x 2 & 3/4"
They might also be OPA Token holders. OPA: WWII Office of Price Administration issued tokens 1944-1945 to buy rationed food (canned, meats, sugar, coffee), tires, gas & more. Blue tokens: processed foods; red: meats/fats.
I have one mounted on the handle bars of my Harley. They are coin holders for when traveling and you get on a toll road or bridge. Keeps you from having to stop and hold up a line of traffic digging in your pocket for coins. Only holds quarters, dimes, and nickels as pennies are not accepted at toll booths.
My grampa had one same thing, it was used to hold tokens for riding the bus or a trolly in the early 1900's. A token and i had one, was smaller than a dime.
