This May be a dumb question but what is the transforming d-pad? Is t different from the normal d-pad?

The normal d-pad has an 8 way directional input where as the transforming d-pad has the option to only do 4 or stick with the 8. It's great for fighting games where you don't want to accidentally press the wrong direction.
