The listing, ***WWII Sweetheart Bracelet*** Extremely Beautiful & Vintage!!! has ended.
Here I have a very beautiful piece from the 1940's!!! It is called a "Sweetheart Bracelet""! When the men were leaving for war, they bought their sweethearts one of these to remember them by. And to see if the young lady was going to be true to him while he was away. The stretchy bracelet on this is of the large "S" design. The front of the heart is an ornate flower with what looks like a hummingbird flying towards it. The heart measures 3/4" X 3/4" and 3/16" deep. On the wristlet, the words "CoStar & Sterling Base". I was told the metal on this is copper and they made it look like a white gold. As you can see in pic #3, the "secret or love note" was kept in a piece behind the heart. It pulls out and it is heart shaped as well. The metal is some kind of a silver alloy. Back in the day, the ladies wrists were as small as a childs' today, so with that being said, it only measures about to be 51/2" long and the wrist band is just shy of a 1/2" wide. This very well could of been our Grandfathers gift to our Grandmother 70 years ago!
