A good tool to help build the young math muscle

Mathematics is an implementation of logical thought, studying it has the personal advantage that logical thought is applied in nearly every other human endeavor. Studies have shown that working through logical and mathematical puzzles keeps the neural circuits in your brain in a higher state and can even delay the onset of mental decline such as Alzheimer's.
It is never too early to begin a regimen of mental exercises and this book provides a set of excellent mathematical and logical puzzles for the young mind. I would estimate that the youngest child with a reasonable chance of doing at least some of the puzzles is in late second or early third grade. Yet, some of the puzzles can cause a veteran mathematician and puzzler, such as me, to have to pause for a moment and think a bit before answering.
