These extraordinarily beautiful stamps were produced by the Persian Postal Service to honor Ahmad Shah Qajar (1898-1930) on his ascent to the Peacock Throne as the last of the Qajar dynasty. Consider the infinite sadness in the young Shah's eyes. Throughout his brief life he battled against countless plots to depose him as well as suffering from a chronic obesity problem which saw him lose and gain over 90 kg in two years.
