The listing, Hosta Seeds has ended.
Offering 25+ Hosta seeds, beautiful foliage plants that have tall purple spires of fragrant flowers that bloom in the summer. After hostas have bloomed, the faded flowers give way to green seed pods along the flower stalk. It is a good idea to cut off the flower stalks to direct the plant’s energy into its growth rather than seed production, untl they are well established .The main requirement for starting Hosta from seed it to use steril potting mix, which is easy to find at Garden Centers or where ever potting soil is sold. The reason for this is to help prevent "damping off" which is caused by a virus in regular soil. Hostas are perfect for shady areas, and make a great ground cover. Established hostas hardly ever need watering, especially if they are growing in good soil and are kept well mulched. Only in serious drought conditions do hostas need some watering attention. These seeds are from my 2013 Hosta plants. Gardening Zones: USDA zone 3, zone 4, zone 5, zone 6, zone 7, zone 8, zone 9.
