I've never used it got it as a gift but never had the means to use it so i really dont know. it says it can find a wireless(wifi) connection up to 200 meters????? sorry i couldn't be more help

This device locates any wifi, i dont think you it matters what you are useing to connect to wifi, not sure maybe another member can help with this question sorry i couldn't be more help
