Description

The listing, Vintage LITTLE NEMO Czech Look Large Brass Flower Brooch marked LN/25 has ended.

Little Nemo jewelry brand is most known for its "Czech look" type pieces. Unfortunately no one has been able to ascertain what the numbers that sometimes follow L/N mean. This old flower brooch is marked LN/25.
The jewelry was manufactured by Brier Manufacturing, located in Providence, RI, which was founded by Benjamin Brier and Sam Magid in 1913. The name "Little Nemo" came from a popular comic strip character of the time. The company became the 2nd largest jewelry manufacturer in the US, with only Coro being larger. While they manufactured their own lines under L/N and Little Nemo (and much of their production is unsigned, as most of it was simply carded/hang-tagged with their name), they also manufactured for other companies, such as Helena Rubenstein, Revlon, and Walt Disney. Brier filed for bankruptcy, 65 years after its start.
A very desirable collector piece for your collection. Most likely made of brass (a magnet does not stick to it) with two paste set rhinestones and two half pea faux pearls. The brooch is large measuring approximately 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. Discoloration and changes from age to the finish. I have not tried to polish it.

Watching and fanned! Beautiful piece. I would love to own it but my master is making me get my collection down some. He says I can't keep everything I like...I say I can so what did he do...he took my mother's carnival glass fruit bowl that matched the candle stick holders and put it in a box with ALL of my vintage and antique bowls! I am so mad I could spit but so I can get them out of the garage I have to start letting some of my things go...dagnabbit and shuckydarn!

Oh no ! I CAN relate though - I went from 4 curio cabinets down to 1 trying to downsize my glassware. It was hard parting with some of them. The nice thing about collecting jewelry is that it doesn't take up much room and you can "stash" it almost anywhere... Fanned you back!

Being a retired jeweler I would just about guess that they numbered their pieces. It may be the number of the collection or the number in the collection it lies. Which or what ever it is absolutely gorgeous!

You are probably correct....I thought that, but wasn't sure. I would have loved to have seen this piece when it was new.
