Description

The listing, ✰Wow! ✰ Air Plants ✰ Ball Moss with seeds! ✰ You CAN grow these even if you kill plants! has ended.

Easy to grow Ball Moss (Tillandsia recurvata) is a gray-green epiphyte found on tree branches. It grows in clumps 6-10" in diameter on most kinds of trees, but seems to be especially fond of live oak. Tiny seeds are blown by the wind until they land on a tree branch. They stick fast and develop root-like attachments to the outside of the bark. Ball Moss is able to convert nitrogen in air (which is unusable to plants) into a form that plants can use. Except for the beans and peas, most plants cannot do this. So when ball moss falls to the ground and decomposes, it provides fertilizers for other plants.

Check out the auction photos of ideas for using the Ball Moss I send you. You can find more ideas on Pinterest! You will get THREE nice sized Ball Moss air plants by winning this auction. See the photos of my hand holding plants to see the size. They will be picked fresh before shipping. These plants are also currently blooming, so you'll get a lot of seeds free!

► Shazam! Be sure to check my other listings by clicking on my photo.

► I start all my listings at 24 credits! It doesn't represent the quality. I just think it's just more fun to start bidding low and watch it go high (even if it does make me bite my nails at times!) like being at an actual auction.

► Ships free in the USA from a non-smoking home. Please confirm your purchase within two days of winning. If you reply immediately, I'll toss in a FREEBIE as well! I'll continue to add lots more listings, so check out what else is up.☆ Please note, that because of winter storms over much of the country, this may take a little longer to get to you than usual. Thank goodness we don't have snow in Florida!

Hi. Ball Moss (and other air plants) are epiphytes, so they don't need to be planted. All they need is water. Here is a good Extension office (if you're an avid gardener, I'm sure you make extensive use of your local Extension office) from the University of Florida on them, and explains more scientifically how they do what they do without soil, if you are not familiar with epiphytes. Copy and paste into your browser: http://polkhort.ifas.ufl.edu/documents/publications/Ball%20moss.pdf

I love these! I am growing two large balls in my kitchen, with my other Tillandsias, on a tray that is usually used for growing Orchids. The top cover of the tray is completely ventilated which helps keep air flow surrounding these epiphytes. They need good air circulation. I have a tiny fan which I run everyday to give some air movement. I soak them once weekly, and I spray Tillandsia "food" periodically, which is available on Amazon. F&B :)

Sorry to say, but someone is taking advantage of you financially. Ball Moss only need water and air - they take all of the nutrients they need out of it. You don't need any specific "food" for them, as they don't use anything besides air and water outside. Save yourself some money and buy more plants instead. ;-) Thank you for writing about your plants though, and I wish you luck with your bids!

Can you grow these on something other than tree limbs?

Are you offering only the Ball Moss or the other 'Air Plants' that you have pictured as well?

The auction is for Ball Moss and the photos are of Ball Moss, whether in a full ball, or separated into smaller bits, with the exception of the photo of multiple plants in a terrarium setting. Please re-read the description for what is being offered. Thanks for watching and good luck if you bid. :-)
