Very pretty coin....Wish I had a couple of these. What would someone do with these. What's a proof coin and why is it so shiny? Shiny shiny shiny.....I like shiny things. That is an uncirculated coin not a proof. A proof coin is made with a specially made polished die and released by the minute that special editions. That is why the background of proof coins are highly polished and reflective. Still a beautiful and circulated coin.

Sry to disagree-- and I know my photos are not great-- but this is a proof penny minted in San Francisco-- I think you are describing a frosted CAMEO proof-- This coin was removed from a Proof coin set by a dealer(same guy I always use) and if you ask anyone that has bought proofs from me I think you will find that they are very happy with and satisfied they have received a PROOF coin.
I will attempt a scan to see if I can better show this coin,but that ,generally, takes away from the appearance.Thanks for looking

Correction to myself-- The scans have already been taken- they are the solid rede background.
ALSO-- to my knowledge (correct me if I am wrong) San Francisco ONLY produced proof pennies in that year- I can not find anything listed lower than a proof grade.Sry -- had to respond further-- don't like the idea of being called a liar and selling fakes!
