There are alot of reasons why people do auctions longer than 3 days.

Maybe they are waiting on money to come in before they can ship. Maybe they want to give people a chance to list their own items to get credits to bid on the auction. Theres always the possibility that they just want it to run longer so more people see it. Not everyone searches for hundreds of items per day, so theres a good chance alot of people can miss an auction they would really like if its only listed for 3 days.
