The listing, L@@K ANTIQUE**** 3 Piece Red Transferware Tureen with Lid and Bottom Plate**** very old antique has ended.

3 piece set of antique red transferware..
here is a little history on transferware:
English transferware was produced by first creating the design on a copper plate, similar to the ones on printing blocks. Then a special kind of paper was placed on the inked copper plate. Then the piece of paper with the still wet ink was applied and transferred to the piece of pottery which was then placed into water to get the paper off. It then was glazed and refired. Thus the name came from transferring the pattern from paper to pottery. The process was developed in the late eighteenth century in the Staffordshire region of England. By about 1820 it really started gaining in popularity. All of the major potteries started using this process and everyone had their own patterns. This auction is for a Red Transferware set of Tureen and Lid and Bottom Plate. Google and see what you come up with...i guarantee you wont be disappointed if you choose to bid:)

Respectfully if this was made any time around 1900 till say 1950s it would absolutely be marked, if it was that old it would be thinner and not be this shape and not have thick dandles. this is newer than 1970s and no offense but its not possibly as old as you are told. im sorry but those are the facts ,its just not there in any way adding up to the age you suggest, just on its shape alone and its too many reasons its not old than there are to make that time line.simply nothing about it rite to make it that old. best of luck tho . its pretty so im sure youll do great on it.
watching ,cheers. hope im not in trouble for letting you know the facts.,sorry.

no worries...thank you for your expert opinion:) i do believe the 1970s red transferware in which you are referring to can be viewed here:

what you are speaking of is called churchill red transferware and it was produced in the 20th century (and in the 1970s) . IT IS NOT the same thing as the 3 piece set that i have listed above...some vintage pieces simply were not marked - please google and look it up...thanks for stopping by and clarifying this while helping us to differentiate between the eras in which they were made.

You have an absolutely gorgeous set there. I love all of these antique experts that try to tell you that you don't know what you have. I just want to know if it is available for local pick up, in the event I shouuld win. I grew up in Virginia Beach and my husband and I own a house there. We also have a house here in Wakefield. Any way I am Fanning/Watching and waiting to pounce near the end of the auction. I hope you will fan back. Good luck and God Bless.

forgot to mention a couple things above- the pieces are in mint condition - no chips or cracks just as exactly as you see in the pictures above, these pieces are not stamped - as was common during those earlier pieces created during that earlier time period...this was given to me many many years ago but a sweet little old lady that had since she was a girl, so i can vouch just for the known age is at least 100+ years...anyways,i feel as that GOD has blessed me with so much, it is my turn to pass it forward to someone special that will enjoy these antique pieces as much as so many of us already have over the years:) thank you for looking:)

on another note...as for the sweet little old lady that told me her history of the piece ...is just that, HER HISTORY...i do not see why she would feel compelled to tell me an untrue story? i really wouldn't want to believe that you may be implying that i am lying?...anyways, as to quote you, mr. josephiloyltd on your facts in your words: "its just not there in any way adding up to the age you suggest, just on its shape alone and its too many reasons its not old than there are to make that time line.simply nothing about it rite to make it that old." ...well, so now I am just curious as to where you gained your extensive knowledge of red transferware (or why?) and also, where exactly did you obtain your facts from???anyways, back to the sweet little old lady that told me from her memories...it was a gift from her and i did not feel so inclined at the time to grill her for the exact specifics of the pieces, so instead, i was rather touched and most appreciative of the gift....so it is quite possible that these pieces MAY NOT BE 100+ years old, but i can tell you this...from the sight of the three pieces, the crackle in the finish and exquisite details, just add a beauty all to itself to these pieces, so... does it truly matter the number of years someone previously owned something, then it was passed down, and then after more time, was passed on to me and now i would like to pass it on by "giving it away" on here for someone else to enjoy? ...just saying...i would not have taken to rambling on about this here, but i don't like having someones (misinformed) two cents thrown into MY AUCTION...you do not have to look and you certainly do not ever have to bid...just keep on shopping....just saying:)

are you saying this is an english piece,it's pretty but your description is confusing me a bit.americans made transfer ware too but the antique english was marked.could you provide a bit more info?thank you
Apr 10th, 2014 at 8:08:20 AM PDT by
Original
nope, not saying that at all...merely just stating that the english cornered the process on how to transfer onto pottery, then it took off.from there..google red transferware and it will explain it all, better than i ever could...thank you for looking:)
