Lovelyn70,I have these,they came 2 in a pack..Anyways to answer your question,they are effective with most dogs. But just so you know,If you read up on these it says they don't work well on chihuahua's. I have 2 different breeds of dogs and I can honestly say it had absolutely no effect whatsoever on our chihuahua but worked well with a papillon..With our chihuahua I ended up getting a collar with a vibrate mode,it was a manual where I had to push the button so it wasnt going off everytime he made a noise.The vibrate was enough to get his attention and make him stop barking. Hope this info was helpful
