The listing, Double Whammy Bean Fest - tiered auction has ended.
By popular demand! here are both of my 'Southwest Bean Fests' - 10 seeds each of 8 kinds of rare beans originating in the southwest (hot and dry!) regions of the continent.
You will get:
* Tarahumara Star - Pole bean collected from the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara in Chihuahua, Mexico. Late-maturing, good green beans, with dark lilac flowers.
* Blue Speckled tepary beans - Unique and beautiful tan beans with navy blue speckles. From highland areas of southern Mexico, this variety is a Mayan folkrace.
* Rio Zape - these delicious beans, purple streaked with maroon, have been grown for at least 1500 years along the Rio Zape, in central Mexico (home of the ancient Mogollon culture). Similar to pintos, but with a hint of coffee and chocolate flavor. AND they're excellent string beans.
* Golden Jacob's Cattle: kidney shaped, white and caramel speckled - they're full-flavored, and have a rich aroma. Bush habit, said to be adapted for cooler weather/ shorter seasons.
* Flor de Rio - originally collected in Donato Guerra, Durango. Traditionally dry-farmed. Lavender-pink bean with white specks.
* Hopi Black Pinto - Striking black and white/beige pinto. Dry farmed in Hopi fields of northeastern Arizona. Early-maturing bushy-pole beans. High-yielding!
* Yoeme Purple String - A prolific bean that can be eaten green or as shelled. Plants are heat tolerant. Vigorous pole bean with white flowers
* Pinacate tepary beans - These beans are tan and slightly mottled. Extremely drought tolerant.
The lucky winner will receive a total of 80 beans!
PLUS - if you use the GIN you will also get a "4 sisters" add-on:
Double Red Sweet Corn (20) - this is a great variety bred by the renowned Dr. Alan Kapular of Peace Seeds
Squash seeds (winner's choice - I have tons of varieties to choose from - 10 seeds, total)
Mammoth sunflowers - the 4th "sister" - (10)
