This Italian Heirloom pole bean has mottled leaves, bright purple stems, attractive violet flowers, and flavorful deep purple pods. Almost as intriguing to look at as it is to eat. Will turn green if fully cooked and can be prepared like any green bean. It is a good climber and will give you continuous yield throughout the summer, the more you pick the more they grow. I'm Sicilian and know these beans are rare. I recently read a story about a gentlemen that gets them and grows them in I believe it was the Seattle area. Will these grow in the Seattle and Kent WA region?

They should do well there just make sure the ground has warmed up before you plant them. They don't like extreme heat. The only year I had any problems with them was an exceptionally hot summer where we had a string of days that were around 100 degrees other than that they usually are easier to grow and more productive than most of the other varieties of pole beans that I grow. I try to vertical garden as much as possible to save space to grow more plants so I always use pole beans instead of the bush varieties. I send growing tips with these and all of the seeds I offer. We have cold winters here so I never plant these before mid-May or later.
