Questions & Comments
It sounds like I need this for my 15 year old son. He finally found ROTC...where he feels like he finally fits in somewhere....but struggling to in other areas. I'm hoping this will help! Any suggestions for other books? Thanks!
This is the guide book, get the book, also Chicken soup for the teenage soul. Please dont give up I have 3 boys and 3 girls....the baby boy and girl are 21 and 19..Try hard to remember when you were a teen, how you felt about your parents, other adults, and life in general. When we grow up we become our parents ,whom we didnt want to listen to. lol Also a male mentor will help..Someone other than his parents.
Thank you...I always keep an open mind....but not so much from his Dad and Step-Mom. So...it's been very difficult. I will get those books and see what I can do about that male mentor! I appreciate the advice...no one seems to want to give advice once your kids are teenagers! And this is when I've had the most questions! The rest.....seems like a cake walk now! Bless you for having six children! I have two...and feel overwhelmed sometimes!
I AM NOT A DOCTOR.....but the parent thing causes hiccups (moments of nuttiness) in teens.Teens are an alien species, the teens of today have an (you owe me )complex. They feel alienated from adults while trying to act like adults. There was a book I think it was called Surviving adolescence. Is he thinking about the Military? I have an ex-Marine ,an Marine, and an Army Reservist.(the boys) and my middle daughter is a Sergent in the Air Force. I believe it is the duty of every adult to help kids achieve all that they can. If he wants to go Military find a recruiter or enlistee to mentor him.
A parent of six...knows much more than any Doctor! Yes....he started Air Force ROTC this year...and I know he is becoming pretty close to his instructors....He also does plan his military career past high school. Possibly even the first officer in the family. I am proud of both of children and always encourage them to follow their dreams. But you are certainly right about the alien thing! Sometimes...I don't know this two ppl walking into my house! And I certainly do understand being a teenager...especially in this day and age...is very difficult. That is why I really would like to do anything to help.... make it a little easier in any way that I possibly can. thanks again for all the advice I really do appreciate it.
Lol you're welcome ! My Air Force daughter is married to another Airman who is a Firefighter...She is aviation logistics...He can choose a job go through training and that will be his job ,besides being a soldier .eventually he will call you out of the blue and thank you for everything you've done ..Sooo dont give up just yet....You really dont wanna miss what the frog turns into ;))
No chance! I am their biggest and loudest cheerleader in everything they do! I would never give up on either of them! And.....I really do look forward to seeing...what becomes of their lives! I'm excited for that...I know I still have work to do..but I have given them a.sold foundation!
