The listing, VINTAGE PENN JIG-MASTER No.500 has ended.

The PENN JIG-MASTER No.500 was first made in 1958. It was designed and manufactured by Penn and is the only jig-master still manufactured today. This reel has an aluminum spool a magnesium bronze main gear, it has a stainless steel pinion. It has the HT powered drag system with the star. It has a counterbalanced handle with an oversized fighting knob. The external parts are chrome plated and corrosion resistant. The spool will hold 275 yards of 30 pound test line. The gear ratio is 4 to 1 and it weighs 22 ounces. This reel is in good condition it has a few nicks and scratches that would be expected from usage. This reel is a real work horse it is affordable, durable and reliable. Every day fishing is a good day. So go catch a shark.. . .

The no.500 was first made in 1958 and i the way I understand it. . . It came with a hard plastics spool and the chrome spool was an option and then they did away with the plastic spool in the 500 model and they were all made with chrome spools and the model number was then called the 500L the one I have is a 500 with a chrome spool so I'm assuming it is a 1958 model
