The listing, Indian "Funny Money" 1974 has ended.
I don't know much about these coins other than they are from India, and they are made from an extremely light metal, most likely aluminum. You get the 9 coins pictured above. these are fun collector's pieces, or fun to let the kids have and pretend with. Have fun!
The term "funny money" is used to describe monies that don't appear to be real. In this case, the money is real, but because it is made from aluminum, it has no real weight, and a person who didn't know better might think it was fake, in other words, it doesn't "feel" like "real" money. Thanks for the question!
These are miniature ziploc baggies that are often used for the transportation of coins and jewelry, I'll make sure your coins are packed well. The coin slips cost me money, and that tends to be in short supply these days.
oh ok i know what you mean i have a bunch of foreign coins and some of the big ones are lighter than little pea size ones im not sure but i dont think its aluminum
Well, this is not FUNNY money at all, Had real value and I used these in my childhood, but in mid 90's when inflation starts, these coins lost their value, other than money for beggars, or for collectors. Scrap dealers bought a lot of these just to melt and sell again. But still beggars used to have a lot of these. Going from shop to shop, and shopkeepers used to have a lot of these to circulate. Funny thing is beggars are selling these coins to shopkeepers for bigger banknotes, and so that's the life of these coins. Hope this will help users to understand the concept of Indian coins, rather than to poke.
