VINTAGE Five (5) Heishi (literally means “shell”, with particular reference to the pieces of shell which are drilled and ground into the beads and then strung into necklaces. Today, however, heishi has come to refer to tiny beads made by hand out of any naturally occurring material) & Shell Beads Necklaces from the 60's & 70's. Top necklace (17") is made of small heishi beads in ivory & pale pink colors and closes with a screw closure. 2nd Necklace (17") is also heishi beads that are larger & ivory in color with a screw closure. 3rd necklace (16") is made of various shades of light purple pieces of shells and has a screw closure. 4th necklace (18") has cowrie shells strung on a double pink cord with silver tone round beads and a lobster claw clasp. The last necklace (16-1/2") is made of larger pieces of ivory and pale pink shells with tiny gold glass seed beads and closes with a screw closure. The necklaces are still very tightly strung.
