Epiphytes, or air plants, grow everywhere but can be found mainly on the branches, trunks, and even the leaves of trees. The name 'epiphyte' comes from the Greek word 'epi' meaning 'upon' and 'phyton' meaning 'plant'.

Different types of epiphytes may grow on the same tree, including orchids, cacti, bromeliads, aroids, lichens, mosses and ferns. They begin their life in the canopy from seeds or spores transported there by birds or winds.

that is too cool!! I've always loved airplane plants, at least what I've always known as airplane plants, but only ever seen them grown in soil in hanging style pots! I have always been told that having several hanging baskets of them in your house is the best air filter you can have!

I think these are different than what I know as an airplane plant, but they sound really cool... is the flower like the bromelaid you find in floral shops? I have mistletoe in abundance around here!
