The banknote image is 24k 999.9 gold foil hot pressed onto polycarbonate,(form of plastic) which is the same material used to make bullet proof glass.
The gold foil is like aluminum foil and like aluminum foil it will crumble and wrinkle when handled.
Which is why its placed onto poly, keeps gold foil from crumbling.
