Stainless steel cover, plugged it in face cover with Apple logo comes on but that's it! I don't know much about these things, don't have need for it, don't know how they work! But I know young people sure love them! That's I really know about IPODS!!

Oh how do you know? Because I googled the model number and serial number and that's what it gave me. Like I said I really don't know what the generations mean. I have no clue about iiPods. But any advice or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

It's either a 2nd or 3rd gen cuz it doesn't have a camera on the back. The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.. Also, if there are 2 lines of words on the back, then it's almost definitely 3rd gen, if there are 3 lines of words, it's definitely a 2nd gen. Just so you know, 60,000 is very, VERY high for a 2nd or 3rd generation Ipod.
