The listing, Antique Comb has ended.
This comb was bought in 1890, My husbands grandfather went to Oklahoma for the great Land Rush which took place April 22, 1889. He rode his horse for days to get there, he was able to get a piece of land , built a sod house and lived there over a year to "prove out" on it. But his sweetheart wouldn't leave West Virginia. So, he sold the Oklahama land and bought a farm next to his mom and dad's. He brought her a comb and brush set as a wedding gift, which he brought back from Oklahoma. The comb is made of celluloid, which crumbles as it ages, it was well used and therefore not in good shape. The brush fell apart long ago. Celluloid was a precursor to plastic.
