This is a LANE CEDAR WOOD TRINKET BOX it is 45 to 50 years old. It is in excellent condition. This box was a gift from a local furniture store.It measures 5" X 9" X 3 1/2" It has the great mild aroma of cedar when opened. The store name and store location is stamped inside the lid.

No sorry, I don't have a key my parents had this when I was a child and I don't ever remember it being locked. It was kept atop their bedroom chest of drawers. I was'nt allowed to be in their room snooping, but I did. I can't remember what was kept in it,, just junk I guess.....lol

No it seems to be almost perfect condition. Its difficult to describe, but if you hold the box sideways in the light you can see very light or minor scratches in the shiney finish. I did just discover a small "manafacturing" blemish on one end corner area. {a small area of the laquior is bubbled}. This has always been there.

I love these. I have one, and I have my mother's. Local Lane dealers used to pass them out to graduating high school senior girls as a gift and encourage the girls to buy a Hope Chest. Such a funny, old timey idea now. /:)

LOL. I graduated high school in 1998 and our local furniture store gave us these for free for graduation! Not too old-timey of an idea :-) Great auction -- I will be watching.
