Ok, I've been seeing this one around for a while, now, and I've been my usually anal self in letting folks know that you cannot grow black, royal-purple, blue or rainbow roses from seed. In fact, these roses do not even exist, except as dyed versions you can get in the florist's shops. But, people are ignorant, just starting out with gardening (like I'm any kind of expert), know nothing about how roses "work". The odds of a seed plant even closely resembling a parent plant is 1%!!!
Sometimes it is an honest misinformed seller but Generally, it's an honest customer who wants to grow their own roses from seed as a challenge who is the target of these fraudulent sellers. These people are scam-artists, only out to take your money. And the truly sad thing about their scams is; they're working. No buyer will be able to do more than complain and warn their friends because, one, the seeds likely won't germinate. And two, if they do get a plant for their effort, they'll have to wait up to three years before the bush is mature enough to bloom before they see they were rooked well and truly. No way to get your refund, then.
Another note that many folks might not realize: roses are persnickety things and are the divas of the plant world. Only under certain, very specific conditions will you get a seed to germinate.
I sank 3000 Credits into 20 Rainbow seeds Last week and I will post a follow up on whether they will even grow and perhaps 3 years from now if any bloom but I know if on some severely slim chance they do they will likely be a shade of pink or mauve like their wild ancestors. Hybrids can only be replicated by cuttings, so if someone gives you seeds from there rose there is a 100% guarantee yours will be different. Please be warned.

Very good info here, I appreciate this very much, I was out bid on an auction for mystry rainbow rose seeds. Now to the sellers credit she did say there was no such thing of a rose bush putting out different colored roses on the same bush other than Joseph's coat rose bush. What had happened was that someone had giver her a bunch of rose seeds all mixed up, so the mystery is that you don't know what color they will be when they do finally bloom. But I have seen ads for the ones you have mentioned above, and it never sieces to amaze me how these scam artists stay in business. any way thanks for the info.

To the sellers discredit...the photo was very misleading. I found u bidding on her auctions. If u have a picture of all those color roses and u bid and win and end up with one plant out of 20 seeds with plain white blooms you know you would be highly disappointed. Probably 95% or better will never make it to a bloom and I have been corrected about the color as they will most likely be white on the ones that do make it. You have just as good a chance of winning the lottery as you do getting something different pretty or unique and 3 years is a lot of work to only be disappointed. If I auction rose seeds I should have to have a disclaimer so people know they are taking a risk in lost points.

I agree with you dear, that pic is very misleading, I know roses better myself, however I have always started with plants and not seeds, I never knew it took 3 yrs to get a full producing rose bush. ANd although she does mention that they did not all come from one plant, it should have been clearly stated in her discription. So many ppl do not read the full discription, and they really have to along qith the comments, a lot of info is given there as well. :(

I was there when they kept bidding...I kept wondering what will Bug do...she won't send out those seeds and what are the people who were bidding think they were bidding on? You will never find rose seeds in any nursery or big box stores. No such thing as rose seeds. Do your research. I also had a "free" do not bid auction and it was removed.

Do your research. I pull seeds off my roses every year. There is such thing. Getting them to grow is a whole other ballgame. But new roses are bred through seeds by science plant people all the time. Doesn't make it any easier though.

They will block you for anything on here. 8 Was WATCHING Some 'giraffe' AMARYLLIS seeds and Missed them. Asked if she checked each seed for the knot they will have if they are good and if she would do a gin auction. She said no. Got angry. Told me to buy from her on etsy and said it isn't fair to do a gin to others who won't get a chance to bid, and blocked me before i could reply. So much for everyone getting a chance. Lol. People are sensative and rude anymore. Just can't take it personal. You try to be kind and you get smacked in the face.

There will always be scammers. But apparently this isn't working because some of my commenters are still bidding on the rose seeds and empowering them. As far as being blocked, that was just goofy. All I did was ask if zephyr would do a GIN. A simpl ed no would have sufficed. But I got referred to etsy and blocked. Not someone I want go deal with anyways.
