All of the couples in the series fall victim to controversy and disapproval from society, and they are left finding a way to be accepted. Furthermore, each character comes from a different walk of life. Some of them are rich, such as Helena Peabody, whose father is an art collector. Other characters are promiscuous, including Shane McCutcheon. The L Word: The Complete Series features every episode in the six-season series. The DVDs come in individual cases, and each season's DVDs/cases come in a cardboard box. The cardboard boxes are a little beat up due to moving them around so often.
