The first picture is a stock picture....sorry, I couldn't find mine in this crazy computer! However, the next two are pictures of sprouting seeds in my greenhouse. These are now about three inches tall. My grandson planted these and they are doing quite well. I've grown these from seeds many times and shared them with friends. Now I want to share them with you! You will receive 10 seeds. Check out the video on sprouting and the article on growing. Both are very informative!

***In cooler climates you may have to lift these or grow them in pots.***** I am in growing zone 7b and these come back every year.

Here's a link to a 5 minute video on how to grow these from seeds.

If you plan on growing them outdoors it's best done in zones 7-9, however, you can lift the bulbs in Fall before heavy freezes and store until Spring. It also makes a wonderful indoor plant. Here's another link on amaryllis growing and reblooming for Winter bloom indoors (lower portion of article).

I live against Lake Erie and I have a white with pink stripping thru it and it gets very cold for months once the Lake Freezes. We have below zero temps and mine has been in the ground for 15 years this month. It gets very very tall as well. It comes up to the window sill on our garage which is just over waist high on me and I am rather short. Would these be ok at my house? The zone I am in is 5 I think.

I'm not sure. I was given these over 10 years ago by a friend who was thinning hers. I don't know if all types are the same. I will see if I can find out. Thanks, Joanie

I have no idea how to pollinate them and I do not recall seeing any kind of seed pods but then where they are at I rarely even see them. If they were in the back yard I could see them all the time but they are out in front of our garage and I am not allowed to go out there. But if you tell me what to do I will give it my best ok

Here is a video on how to do this. This guy cut the flower off so naturally it is just for demo. You would be doing this "in the field" so to speak. This process works for most all flowers...just an FYI.

Also here is what to look for after the pod matures.

It's really easy and many people make a hobby out of cross pollinating and creating their own hybrids. It's fun too! I cross pollinate daylilies. I love to see what the new flower is going to look like.

Good luck! Joanie
