Questions & Comments
The coins look great. BUT on Ebay about 4 years ago a guy from China had many rare coins as a group lot including a 1804 Silver dollar, a trade coin, and othe very rare coins,Stupid me, thinking in that time era maybe he had relatives here working in mines or the rail road,I received the coins and like the other said thethey were foneys, look at the edage of the coins are they layered?
that is not in 1804 dollar. that is a copy of an 1804 dollar and is a1 ounce bullion round! I have two of them. the magnet would not stick because it is silver. it is a very popular generic round. if it were a real 1804 dollar you would be a multi-millionaire my friend!
the only strange thing to me is on the 1804 round you will usually see the 999 fine silver or it will say copy this one doesn't have either which tells me it's probably just a fake with silver plating.... I have been to a few times with similar Koreans and they all come from China they are masters at making these types of fakes. please don't mistake what I'm saying this very well could be a 1 ounce silver coins but it is definitely not in 1804 silver dollar!
Nice auction Jason and Welcome to Listia! A little information about the two 1804 silver coins you currently have listed:
There are only 19 "authentic" 1804 silver dollar coins in the entire world of which six of them are "Re-sticks". One of them is at the Smithsonian Institute, one of the originals was auctioned in 1999 for $4,140,000 " and one of the "Re-strick" coins was auctioned in 2009 for $2,300,000.
I'm sure that the coin in this auction is what is referred to as a "Duplicate Round" in .999 silver called "Miao Silver Carvings". These rounds can be purchased for as little as $55 each.
STILL A VERY NICE AUCTION IF THIS IS A GENUINE .999 SILVER ROUND!
Yeah. I wish it were real. But I guess I'll rename the post. If the current high bidder wishes to opt out I understand. This was in no way meant to be misleading.
