The listing, $20 September 11 Silver Leaf Certificate twenty dollar bill has ended.

This is one hot item that you may not see again on listia.com. I purchased 3 of these about 3 years ago and this is an extra. This is also made in 24k gold so I have one gold and one silver and this extra silver one. It is a 20.00 bill completelt clad in silver leaf. This is not the kind of collectible you will run across alot. It is a September 11 7th year commemorative 20.00 bill whihc is legal tender from the republic of liberia who mints plenty of US themed coins and banknotes. I tried to find another example on ebay and I couldn't find one like it, that doesn't mean they aren't on there , I just couldn';t find one. This bill is larger than a US dollar bill as you can see from the pictures.

This bill comes with the certificate of authenicity from the National Collectors Mint. It is struck in .999 silver and is really cool. I checked the NCM website and they don't sell these anymore. Well, it's not like a solid peice of silver, it's a silver plated 20.00 bill. If I wanted I could fold it up and pocket it( of course it would be destroyed, but you get the picture) It has a protective sleeve over it and with that it weighs a little over 17 grams. I don't want to remove it from the sleeve, the actual bill is probably between 8 and 10 grams if I had to guess.

The bill looks awesome, but I have some questions to ask so I can better judge how much to bid. Don't know much about foreign currency and even less about the Republic of Liberia. Did they help us with the hunt for the terrorist or something? Just trying to understand the significance of the bill choice. I know 9/11 is an important date and has changed the US forever, but I don't understand the connection to Liberia.

Also it says its a 20 Liberian dollar bill. How much is a Liberian dollar worth in US dollars? Just trying to judge value so I can bid fairly.

I'll be honest I don't know the conversion rate for Liberian currency to USD. as far as Liberia making coins and commemoratives...They seem to make alot of different commemoratives. I have seen alot of coins featuring US presidents and also I have a coin listed in here that is Pope John Paul II from the republic of liberia. I don't really know much more than that. hope it helps. thanks

I wish I would have gotten these when I had a chance when they came out. It is more of a collectors item then currency, and infact I doubt it is worth anything as a currency. But it is a great collectors Item. It is a work of art. I have a feeling the credits will go over what I have, but I shall try. I fanned you, hope you can fan me back when you get a chance,

They really are works of art..I'm not sure if the pictures really show how nice this is. The skyline and other details are raised and you get a great 2D effect on the bill. Thanks for the comment
